Law Reform Consultation Responses

The Law Reform Department administers a number of Committees, Sub-Committees and Working Parties which are made up of practitioners and academics who are experts in their respective fields.

Each Committee comments on and responds to proposals for law reform which come from various sources, such as the Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament, UK Parliament and Scottish Law Commission.

Committees are chaired by a convener and can vary in size, typically consisting of between five and fifteen members.

While the work load and approaches of each committee varies, they all share a common aim - to improve the law of Scotland for the benefit of the public and the profession through lobbying for change and responding effectively to proposals.

From this page, you can access further information on the areas of law which the committees work on, including consultation responses. Responses are organised according to the year they are issued and from there you can access the areas of the law that interest you.
