Standards

Solicitors in Scotland are expected to observe high standards of professional conduct and having standards which are clear and understandable is good for both solicitors and clients. It lets the client know what standards to expect and lets the profession know what is expected of them.

The attached booklet explains what the standards are and the differences between standards of conduct and standards of service.

More information
Standards of service were approved by the profession in September 2008. Standards of conduct became part of the Practice Rules on 1 January 2009 and replace part of The Codes of Conduct. Practice Rules are binding and have the force of legislation.
