Education and Training

The key functions of the Education and Training Department are to:

  • make recommendations to the Education and Training Committee on the strategic direction of education and training for solicitors in Scotland
  • drive and implement the policies of the Education and Training Committee and the Council
  • keep itself informed of developments in education and training practice both within and outwith Scotland
  • foster greater awareness amongst key stakeholders of the legal education strategy of the Society
  • promote discussion of education and training in the Society and elsewhere
  • maintain a register of all trainee solicitors
  • ensure compliance with the Admission Regulations
  • ensure that the Society is compliant with diversity legislation and to promote best practice in this area.
