Licensing law

Commencement of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010 Parts 8 & 9

On 30 June 2010, the Scottish Parliament passed our Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Bill. Royal Assent was received on 6 August 2010.  This is a wide ranging piece of legislation that makes a number of changes to the criminal justice system and also seeks to ensure more robust licensing laws.  This consultation focuses on the licensing aspects of the Act.

Alcohol Etc (Scotland) Bill

This Bill, which was introduced into the Scottish Parliament on 25 November 2009, makes provision regulating the sale of alcohol and licensing of premises on which alcohol is sold and to make provision for the imposition of charges on holders of licences granted under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982.

The Society wrote a stage 1 letter to all MSPs on 8 June ahead of the Stage 1 debate on 10 June.
