We are pleased to report:

- Over 90% of members paid by June 30
- The Society paid the sum due of £1,862,714 to the SLCC on schedule June 30
What is the Society doing about those who have not paid?
The Legal Profession and Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 2007 provides the Society with two remedies:
- The right to recover sums due as a debt -- s 27 (4) and
- The right to treat failure to make payment as misconduct. -- s 27 (5)
Why have I received a reminder but never seen the original invoice?
Invoices were dispatched to employers who tend to deal with them as a batch payment. If you have not seen your invoice check with your employers finance Department before contacting the Society.

Those holding a Practising Certificate on 30 June 2010 will be liable for this year's payment irrespective of unemployment/retirement or other status. For the avoidance of doubt only formal surrender of a Practising Certificate including the return of that certificate prior to close of business at 5 PM on 29 June would avoid liability for those currently holding certificates.
When?
Members were invoiced in week commencing 17 May 2010. The Society collected over 90% of the sum due by 30 June and met its obligation to pay the SLCC the full amount on 30 June 2010.
