Law Society of Scotland sets dates for second referendum
The Law Society of Scotland is to hold a referendum on its dual representative and regulatory role following a requisition from members of the Glasgow Bar Association, MacRoberts Solicitors and others.
The Society's Council agreed on Friday, 26 March, that the referendum would be held from 26 April – 10 May. The independent Electoral Reform Service will be invited to conduct the referendum.
It is the second referendum to be called in recent weeks. The first vote on whether or not to support the introduction of alternative business structures is currently being run as a secret ballot by the Electoral Reform Services. The results will be available shortly after 7 April.
