Financial compliance
The Financial Compliance Department is responsible for
monitoring compliance with the accounts rules and related areas,
through the inspection and certificate processes, and advising
members of the Society on compliance and best practice issues. Our
work is overseen by the Guarantee Fund Committee and paid for by
the Guarantee
Fund.
If you are not already familiar with the accounts rules and the
inspection process, the Accounts rules & guidance section is a
useful starting point. The accounts rules govern the manner in
which firms must manage their financial records and, in particular,
client money. The rules not only provide a framework for firms but
also set a benchmark for the standard of financial control that
clients may expect from their solicitor.
