Society informed of process for selection of new Lord
President
The Scottish Government has informed the Law Society of the
process that will commence in the New Year for the selection of a
new Lord President to replace Lord Hamilton who will retire in
2012.
The First Minister has now constituted a selection panel as
follows:
Sir Muir Russell (Chair)
Chair of the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland;
Professor Andrew Coyle
Lay member of the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland
Rt. Hon Lord Hardie
Senator (Inner House)
Hon Lady Dorrian
Senator (Outer House)
The panel has agreed that the office of Lord President will be
advertised on 4 January 2012 with a closing date for applications
of 31 January 2012. A sift of applications will take place on
10 February with interviews following on 23 and 24 February
2012.
